Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma
The Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma is one of four federally recognized Native American tribes of Odawa Indians. The other three tribes, the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, are located in Michigan. ==Government== The headquarters of the Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma is Miami, Oklahoma, and their tribal jurisdictional area is in Ottawa County. Currently, there are 2,500 enrolled tribal members, with only 737 of them living within the state of Oklahoma.〔 Membership to the tribe is based on lineal descent;〔 that is, they have no minimum blood quantum requirement.〔 The current administration is as follows: * Chief: Ethel Cook * Second Chief: Bert Henry Kleidon * First Councilman: John Charles Dawes * Second councilman: Dr. Charla Dawes.〔(Ottawa Tribe of Oklahoma. ) Retrieved 1 July 2013.〕
